I so resonate with the desire to include everyone after feeling excluded during many points of my life. Thank you for encapsulating that for me, for us.

Thanks for this, Zibby! You’ve framed a very hopeful perspective around writing for the sake of connection, and THAT is more needed than ever.

This was such a validating piece of writing, Zibby. I was also that quiet girl (until high school, at which point, I made up for lost time) who was too socially shy to participate in class or speak to kids I didn’t know. I escaped into books to experience another person’s world, someone who was brave and confident and had a cool boyfriend named Ned Nickerson. I think he even drove a mustang convertible? Blue, perhaps? And the Hardy boys—Frank was so hot, and the Sweet Golden Valley Twins. I saved myself by losing myself in books.

Beautiful, heartfelt message my dear Zibby. Kindness right from your heart to everyone else in your now, large orbit. Perfect timing given our world of divisiveness, controversy and dare I say, Hate? Admission: Looked up word "HATE" in dictionary recently to see if I'd get a better understanding of it. No help at all.

Zibby, I'm very grateful that someone much younger than I am (& you know exactly how old I am...lol) has taken up the baton to spread kindness, love and decency in the world. I'm now facing the last few chapters of my life and do not have the energy I once did but my soul and spirit are with you.

Bravo to you dearest Zibby! All best wishes for your continued and future success. You are poised to take over your very special give-back corner in this world!

xoxo

LOL...Seriously? Ok then, back of back nine. I feel it but that's ok. Working on a collaborative writing project from my Winsor School class in Boston now 55 years later. Also, hope to get my second attempt memoir written. Started it and you thoughts about writing really helped. Thanks tons!

I love this. That's why I write to, so that people feel seen, and connected, and understood. In this deeply divisive, derisive world, that's such a gift. Kudos to you!

P.S. In case this helps, from one multitasker to another: A friend told me once to just write 250 words a day. So I do, though not on weekends or vacations or holidays. Often I write more, but I won't quit my work day until I've written at least 250. On my current work-in-progress called "Husband Swap," that's added up to 82,675 words since August. Almost done. (And then I have to edit!) Good luck! I can't wait to read "Overheard!"

Love this Zibby. I write because I read - and it’s been one of the greatest joys of my life, bringing me comfort and companions whether I’m lonely or not. Can’t wait for the next novel!

I love this. And this is why our retreat in Asheville was one of the best group trips I’ve ever been on. It was infused with care and kindness, and gathered together thoughtful, kind, warm people who love reading and writing. It’s very heartening to see this message of inclusion and at the same time even if someone didn’t read it or know about it explicitly, they would feel the essence of vibe of inclusion, friendliness, and friendship!
