Zibby, I ordered Mounjaro yesterday, so I was delighted to read your comments about your experience with it. So kind and generous of you to share your thoughts about this, so helpful and encouraging for others like me, Thank you and best wishes. EMM
You know I’m pro doctor and go to all of my appointments. This year I had to go to a new OB/GYN because mine retired. We had the same conversation and like I do every year, I was in tears. She told me I need to do intermittent fasting...although my labs sound very similar to yours. I’m going to seek out an endocrinologist this coming week!
I admire your honesty and I know you have thought this through, but I so worry about the effect of these drugs on the brains and liver. There are no long term studies. And from what I understand if you want to keep the weight off you have to take the drug forever. Remember Phen Fen and all the damage that caused people in the 90s? My hope is that these medications might jump start a person who can the go off the drug and manage without it. I too have gone through much of what you have (weight watchers at 8! Bulimia, binging, etc) In 2007 I discovered Ayurveda and lost 60 pounds. I was 44 years old. By eating Ayurvedically for my dosha I’ve kept it off. I rewired my brain naturally. I wish the same for you and others.
These medications are life changing. Just the release from not thinking about food rules on a constant basis is a blessing. Thank you for your honesty!
Thank you for sharing Zibby! I have walked a similar path and your story sounds amazingly like my own!! I was approved to begin Wegovy last month but it can not be found ANYWHERE. I have been calling pharmacies in 3 surrounding counties to no avail. I had all but given up and stayed the same old course with phentermine under my docs supervision. But The NY Times broke the news yesterday that the weight loss version of Munjourno had been approved and should be available to me by the end of this year! I have decided to wait the wait for this newly approved drug and forget the always-out-of-stock because the manufacturer can’t produce enough Wegovy. I feel so heard and seen with your words - thank you! Please keep writing about your journey! It helps so many to hear of your experience.
Oh, I could relate to all the diets you did. I have to add the Scarsdale diet for me at 7 or 8 years old. I went to "fat" camp and learned how to binge, purge, etc. I have finally found a way to keep the weight at bay, but those insecurities never end. Interesting about the vyvanse to stop the urge to eat. My daughtet takes it and she has OCD, along with a lot of other issues. Vyvanse helped initially with her closet eating but then it didn't.
A whole study could be done with all the disordered eating issues in these comments.
This is amazing. And what great news for everyone who has weight issues (uh...all of us!) and thank you so much for sharing-- P.S. I always thought you looked fabulous and I'm happy you will be feeling more fabulous every day! (Buy yourself a bikini!) love C

I hated intermittent fasting!!
Good for YOU!
Having such a similar relationship with food, I can say I am overjoyed for you. It is life-changing, for sure. Here's to your continued success!

Brain not brains! Can’t seem to edit...
So happy for the journey you're on Zibby! You are so transparent and I'll say it again... You help me do the same in my writing and relationships!

If only more people were as transparent and honest as you !

Oh no. My short-lived bikini days ended decades ago.
Thank you for sharing! Happy you found such excellent medical care. This is an inspiring essay - x, Jeannie
You are amazing, thank you for sharing.
I feel like we might be the same person, but I have 60 pounds to lose. Happy for you that you've found what works! Here's to our health! :)
Haha!! This took away so much shame for my constant failure to control something that seemed so obvious to others!
Congrats, you look great. A few women in my neighborhood are on some version of these. My concern is that I've heard you have to stay on it -- FORVER!
Hope not!!!
